The National Committee for Cultural Development was created in 1993 on the initiative of UNESCO, in order to strengthen public awareness of the cultural dimension of development. The main guidelines defining the activities of the Committee consist in running cultural and educative projects, which aim at broadening participation of all the socio-professional categories in cultural phenomena, supporting dialogue among civilisations and promoting regional cooperation.
